“One of Yaga’s highlights…mesmerising” - Clash Magazine

“A truly profound image of claustrophobia and isolation” - Ransom Note

Death of the Box reimagines minimalist architecture as flesh. Performed within a ten-metre tower of hand-painted latex, the piece unfolds over two performances in which the dancers struggle and tear themselves free from the claustrophobic structure that confines them — an emotional ritual of pain, transformation, and release.

The work explores pain as a communal rather than spectacular act, blurring the boundaries between endurance and expression. Originally conceived in 2020, Death of the Box has since been adapted for music venues and galleries, with its most recent iteration performed at Yaga Gathering in 2025.
